September 2010: Sheldon J. Stark was appointed Distinguished Visiting Professor by the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. He teaches Pretrial Litigation and Advanced Pretrial Litigation. Advanced Pretrial Litigation is in the school’s Law Firm Program (LFP), which simulates practice in a law firm. The students are divided into two opposing law firms to litigate a single case from intake through informal investigation, from court filing and formal discovery through Final Pretrial Statements, including argument of motions in federal court before real federal judges and mediation advocacy.
September 2010: Sheldon J. Stark was awarded the Michael Franck Award given by the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly to an attorney who has made an outstanding contribution to the improvement of the profession.
June 2010: The Executive Committee of the Institute Of Continuing Legal Education passed a resolution expressing its gratitude to Sheldon J. Stark for his eleven-year history of “remarkable and effective service to the Institute and to Michigan’s legal profession.”

Shel is a masterful mediator. I truly did not believe that this case would settle, but he found a way to get the parties to see the benefits of doing so. Very much appreciated!
