servicesMediation: Shel Stark mediates disputes involving employment, civil rights, personal injury, professional negligence, law firm and small business break ups, commercial and business matters, insurance and probate.   He has served as a mediator since the mid-1980s and appears on the rosters in Kent, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties.  He has served as one of three trainers in ICLE’s award-winning 40-hour, hands-on general civil mediation training and he is a planner and trainer in ICLE’s award-winning advanced mediation training.  He practiced law for 27 years specializing in employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, civil rights, business torts and personal injury litigation.  He brings that experience to the mediation table to aid in understanding what drives conflict, to better communicate with the parties, to identify barriers to resolution and to find creative options to reach resolution.

Arbitration: Shel Stark arbitrates employment, civil rights, personal injury, professional negligence, law firm and small business break ups, commercial and business matters, probate and insurance matters in every arbitration format: sole neutral arbitrator, part of a three neutral panel and as a party appointed arbitrator.  He has served as chair and as a party representative.  He believes that arbitration should be faster and cheaper than court litigation and will work with you to design an arbitration process to meet your needs without exceeding your budget.

Case Evaluation: Shel Stark has served as a case evaluator in Wayne and Oakland Counties.  He has also served on scores of “blue ribbon” case evaluation panels appointed by the parties to assist in resolution of complex disputes throughout the State of Michigan.

Neutral Third-Party Investigations: Shel Stark offers neutral third-party investigation when your client or employer is faced with complaints of complex, workplace misconduct, discrimination, sexual harassment or retaliation.
